Documentation and Tuition Classification Deadline

Tuition classification is based on a student's documented status as of the applicable tuition deadline. This deadline is the effective date used to determine your tuition classification for that term. Students seeking domestic tuition rates must provide acceptable documentation by this deadline.

Documentation received after the applicable tuition deadline will be used to determine tuition classification for subsequent terms only. Tuition assessments for the current or any completed term will not be revised retroactively, even if the documentation confirms Canadian citizenship, permanent resident status, or another eligible status that was effective during an earlier term.

Students who become eligible for domestic tuition rates during their studies are responsible for informing 51猎奇入口and providing the required supporting documentation in order to have domestic tuition apply going forward.

If you cannot demonstrate that you meet the criteria for domestic tuition rates by the applicable tuition deadline, you will be assessed international tuition fees for that term.

Domestic tuition criteria

You will be assessed domestic tuition fees if you can demonstrate that you meet any of the following criteria as of the applicable tuition deadline:

Canadian citizen
Permanent resident of Canada
Parent is a permanent resident of Canada, and you meet the definition of a dependent child
Convention refugee
Parent is a convention refugee, and you meet the definition of a dependent child
Diplomat assigned to Canada
Parent is a diplomat assigned to Canada and you meet the definition of a dependent child

Note: 51猎奇入口does not offer domestic tuition fees for dependents of work permit holders.

Documentation required

Students seeking domestic tuition fees must provide the required documentation, as applicable. The documentation must demonstrate that you meet the eligibility criteria as of the applicable tuition deadline. Tuition assessments for previous terms will not be changed retroactively, as noted above and below.

Permanent Resident status rule

Permanent resident status is attained as of the "Landed on" date indicated on the Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). Fees will not be changed retroactively for previous terms, regardless of the 鈥淟anded on鈥� date indicated on the COPR document.

Citizenship status rule

Fees will not be changed retroactively for previous terms, regardless of the 鈥渆ffective date鈥� indicated on the citizenship certificate.

¹ Dependent child

Under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations, a dependent child is someone who:

a) has one of the following relationships with the parent, namely,

(i) is the biological child of the parent, if the child has not been adopted by a person other than the spouse or common-law partner of the parent, or

(ii) is the adopted child of the parent; and

b) is in one of the following situations of dependency, namely,

(i) is less than 22 years of age and is not a spouse or common-law partner, or

(ii) is 22 years of age or older and has depended substantially on the financial support of the parent since before attaining the age of 22 years and is unable to be financially self-supporting due to a physical or mental condition.鈥�
