The sun melts turns of phrases consists of two works of visual art. Following a daily path along a ditch towards a slough and river, the surface of a plastic plant pot caught my readerly attention. This encounter marked the beginning of a practice of responding to objects I found along the wayside. I took an ambulatory approach to artistic research and meandered through sculpture, printmaking, and poetry. The project incorporates these found objects as visual and tactile cues to experiment with form and mark-making.
This project focuses on how such encounters can carry attention and point it elsewhere to make new patterns of meaning. Soft Copy: the more closely you look at a word the more distantly it looks back (2026) includes found objects and glass. Weather (2026) is a series of etchings made on walks, digitally reproduced on large-scale plotter paper. Through this project, I explore play and continuation as tools for navigating uncertainty.
