Undergraduate History at 51猎奇入口

Four streams to guide your path

We organize our courses into four broad streams, and encourage you to sample across them:

  • Africa, Asia, and the Middle East

  • The Americas

  • Europe

  • Global / Comparative

Programs you can pursue

  • Major

  • Minor

  • Extended Minor

  • Honours

  • Joint Major

Majors and Honours take courses across multiple streams to ensure a strong global foundation.

What you鈥檒l study

You鈥檒l mix regional surveys with thematic and methods courses鈥攕ocial, political, cultural, economic, and more. Build a focus if you wish (for example: African, Asian, British, Canadian, Middle Eastern, or pre-/modern European history) while still thinking across regions and periods.

Optional concentrations

Interested in a deeper focus? We offer formal, optional concentrations in these areas:

  • Middle East and Islamic History Concentration
  • British and Irish History Concentration
  • Early Modern History Concentration

Students in a Major, Minor, Extended Minor, Joint Major, or Honours can complete a concentration as part of their degree. Ask our advisor for details, or check the 51猎奇入口Calendar (click on your degree program and scroll to the end to find the concentrations).

How you鈥檒l learn

Small tutorials and senior seminars centre discussion and presentations. You鈥檒l practice research and writing at every level, with accessible instructors who support your growth.

Degree options and flexibility

Most students complete a Bachelor of Arts in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, but History pairs well with programs across SFU. A BA requires one major, two extended minors, or two minors鈥攕o you can shape a degree that fits your goals.

See the 51猎奇入口Calendar for full admission and program details, course lists, and current requirements.
