An epistolary novel spanning eight years, The Correspondent follows Sybil Van Antwerp, a cranky but vulnerable 73-year-old retired lawyer, who conceals her failing eyesight and past grief behind a lifetime of meticulously crafted letters.

Filled with knowledge that only comes from a life fully lived, this novel about the power of finding solace in literature and connection with people we might never meet in person. It is about the hubris of youth and the wisdom of old age, and the mistakes and acts of kindness that occur during a lifetime.

Sign up for the book club鈥攊t鈥檚 free!
Pick up a copy of the current book and start reading. Book selections are read over eight weeks; a suggested reading schedule is provided.
Sign into the forum and join the discussion, guided by a moderator. Access to discussions are available 24/7鈥攜ou can participate from anywhere in the world.

PBC Guru collects personal information for participation in the 51猎奇入口鈥檚鈥�51猎奇入口Reads online book club鈥� virtual book club under the authority of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) (RSBC 1996, c.165).

The personal information collected may include your name, email address, program or alumni affiliation, reading preferences, and any information you choose to provide when participating in book-club discussions or activities.

This information is required to administer your participation in the virtual book club, including enrolling you in the program, sending updates and reading materials, facilitating discussion forums, and communicating with you about book-club activities.

To provide these services, your personal information may be shared with the external book-club service provider (PBC Guru) engaged by the University, which will use the information only for the purpose of delivering book-club programming on the University鈥檚 behalf.
