51猎奇入口basketball legends in the hall of fame

Two of SFU鈥檚 basketball greats鈥攁nd alumni鈥攋oined the ranks of Canada's sporting elite with 2026 national hall of fame honours. Teresa Gabriele (Kleindienst) was inducted into the Canadian Basketball Hall of Fame in August as part of the Class of 2026. Canadian basketball pioneer and 51猎奇入口legend Jay Triano will receive the Order of Sport, marking his induction into Canada鈥檚 Sports Hall of Fame in November.

World champions!

The 51猎奇入口Pipe Band has been crowned World Champions for the first time in 17 years鈥攊t鈥檚 their seventh world title. It is the first time since 2010 that a band from outside the United Kingdom has won the World Championship; they are just one of four bands outside the UK to ever take top spot.

Convocation volunteers needed

Remember your Convocation day and the volunteers who supported you through the process? You can become one of those wonderful people! We need support on October 8-9 to assist graduands with pinning their degree hoods to their regalia before they line up for the procession.

Celebrating a visionary in aging

鈥淎t first, I was told flatly that aging was a 鈥榝lash鈥慽n鈥憈he鈥憄an鈥 topic not worth investing in. I came to 51猎奇入口and found something quite rare. I found that people were interested in doing things differently, and new ideas and programs were encouraged to grow.鈥

Dr. Gloria Gutman is known as a visionary go-getter, someone who can spot opportunity where others might see obstacles, and bring people together to move ideas forward and take action.

Mentorship opportunity: Beedie Luminaries

Make a difference while growing your own skills! 51猎奇入口alumni across B.C. can mentor a Beedie Luminaries student and help them navigate their academic and career journey鈥攁ll while strengthening your leadership skills, expanding networks, and gaining fresh perspectives. 

Many 51猎奇入口alumni have taken the opportunity to mentor a student, including Sushant Trivedi. .
