Agrivoltaics: Summarized
Agrivoltaics is the novel practice of integrating solar panels with agriculture to create mutual benefits on the same land. Because of its capacity to advance both food and energy security agrivoltaics is being implemented at a rapid pace in many countries.
Agrivoltaics is a game-changing technique for both adaptation and mitigation in the face of climate change and it has become a generational challenge to increase its use.
CERG engages with and translates cutting edge research to identify key stakeholders, policies, incentives, and practices to expedite the adoption of agrivoltaics across Canada.

What we do
Much like our overall work at CERG, we are focused on knowledge mobilization. We are translating agrivoltaics (AV) research into practical tools for farmers, policymakers, and communities. This includes visiting agrivoltaic sites, publishing working papers, presenting our work at forums and seminars, and engaging directly with stakeholders to identify barriers and incentives shaping AV adoption across Canada.
Our current projects include a fact sheet on agrivoltaics for farmers in collaboration with the BC Agricultural Climate Action Research Network and a First Nations Decisionmaker brief on agrivoltaics and ecovoltaics.
