POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly motivated full-time (37.5 hours/week) or part-time (30 hours/week) Senior Research Writer to join our research centre. This is a senior publication writing role that provides leadership on all academic publications, community-facing reports, and institutional writing projects associated with the CCAIHG and the BC NEIHR. The Senior Research Writer will oversee the full publication pipeline, including leading the development of academic manuscripts, scoping reviews, commentaries, Centre-led research reports, grant writing support, annual and project reporting, and identifying publication opportunities and collaborations. The position works collaboratively with the Centre staff (i.e., Director), BC Network Environment for Indigenous Health Research (BC NEIHR) team members, Indigenous communities and partners, internal and external collaborators, and 51猎奇入口interdisciplinary teams to manage research publications and reporting for both the Centre and BC NEIHR.
Duties and Responsibilities
Academic Publications
鈥 Write, draft, and edit academic manuscripts in collaboration with the Nominated Principal Investigator, who will maintain first and/or senior authorship and primary intellectual leadership on all Centre-led publications.
鈥 Manage academic manuscripts for publication, including primary research papers, commentaries, scoping reviews, conceptual papers, and more.
鈥 Coordinate writing teams, publication timelines, journal selection, submission processes, and revisions.
鈥 Develop and maintain a Centre publication strategy and annual publication plan.
鈥 Identify new publication opportunities, special issues, and collaborative writing initiatives.
鈥 Mentor trainees and research assistants on writing, synthesis, publication styles, and knowledge translation.
Reporting
鈥 Lead the development of CCAIHG and BC NEIHR annual reports, evaluation reports, project reports, and community-facing reports.

Grant Writing Support

Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY
The Research Assistant in Health Economics will have responsibility for leading/co-leading key aspects of the design and conduct of a subproject (i.e., Objective #1) for the CIHR-funded project, Severity Weighting of Health Outcomes for Economic Evaluation: From Methods to Application (https://webapps.cihr-irsc.gc.ca/decisions/p/project_details.html?applId=535819&lang=en). The successful candidate will also provide administrative project management support for the subproject.
Objective #1 of the CIHR-funded project investigates how members of the public (including patients and family caregivers) conceptualize the notion of disease severity. Research questions to explore this objective will be investigated using qualitative and quantitative methods. The specific activities that the successful candidate will lead/co-lead are detailed below.
POSITION DUTIES:
Reporting to Professor David Whitehurst (CIHR Project Co-Principal Investigator), the research assistant will undertake the following duties:
- Assist with the development of the research protocol
- Prepare ethics applications and subsequent ethics amendments
- Work effectively with study coordinators and investigators at other research institutions, nationally (Western University and the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute) and internationally (Glasgow Caledonian University and Akershus University Hospital)
- Provide support to the subproject team by organizing and coordinating virtual team meetings, preparing agendas, taking meeting notes, and distributing draft notes for comment and review
- Provide monthly email updates to team members
- Maintain and update a subproject-specific reference library using EndNote, RefWorks, or comparable software
- Assist in the formulation of primary research questions and appropriate methodological approaches for the qualitative (i.e., focus group studies) and quantitative (i.e., online surveys) phases of the research program
- Assist in the development of efficient recruitment strategies for the qualitative and quantitative phases of the research program

- Liaise with, and obtain quotes from, leading companies in the market research industry
- Track project deliverables using appropriate tools
- Take a lead in the drafting of manuscripts suitable for submission to leading international peer-reviewed journals
QUALIFICATIONS
A graduate degree in health economics (or a relevant discipline with a specific focus on health economics) is essential; this includes applicants who can reasonably expect their graduate degree to be completed prior to 1 September 2026. Experience and expertise 鈥 evidenced through peer-reviewed publications as a prominent author and/or project lead 鈥 in qualitative and quantitative health economics is also essential. The successful applicant must have experience in facilitating focus groups.
To achieve timely completion of the research program鈥檚 objectives, demonstrable time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines are fundamental to this position. The successful candidate requires an ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing); must display mature judgement, discretion and tact in dealing with all stakeholders; and have excellent analytical reasoning and problem solving skills, with conscientious attention to detail.
The successful candidate also requires a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently and in a team environment. Proficiency in the use of database, spreadsheet, word processing and presentation software is essential. Experience working within multi-institutional research teams is desirable.

The HCHF project is a collaborative partnership between the Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council (NTC), 51猎奇入口, and a range of organizational stakeholders. The project aims to improve understanding of chronic health conditions and life-course health trajectories among Nuu-chah-nulth Peoples. HCHF includes two main components: (1) a cross-sectional adult health survey and (2) a perinatal cohort study involving mothers, fathers, and infants.
POSITION SUMMARY
The HCHF Data Coordinator contributes to the development, implementation, support, and knowledge mobilization of HCHF project. Reporting to the Director of the Maternal and Child Health Laboratory at SFU, and working closely with 51猎奇入口Research Computing and the HCHF Research Lead at the NTC, the Data Coordinator will work innovatively and collaboratively to develop, implement, maintain, and optimize REDCap instruments and databases that support this maternal, child, and family health research project.
The position will serve as a key liaison between research, technical, and community partners, ensuring that data collection instruments, workflows, and reporting systems are accurate, secure, user-friendly, and aligned with project objectives, ethical requirements, and best practices in research data management. The Data Coordinator will support cross-organizational collaboration, facilitate communication among partners, provide technical guidance, and contribute to the ongoing development of data infrastructure that enhances research quality, efficiency, and capacity.

POSITION SUMMARY
A Research Assistant is needed to work on the project entitled 鈥淧rospective Urban and Rural Epidemiology (PURE) Study in Canada鈥. This study is a collaborative project with centres in Canada and other countries throughout the world. The PURE study investigates the social and environmental determinants of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease over an 18-year period. The Vancouver centre has recruited 2,754 community participants and is now in the follow-up period. The successful applicant will also support related research projects including PURE-MIND and the Canadian Alliance for Healthy Hearts and Minds (CAHHM).
Job Description
The successful applicant will support the day-to-day research and data collection activities across multiple ongoing studies, including PURE, PURE-MIND, and CAHHM. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with the day-to-day operation of research and participant data collection activities.
- Scheduling participants and supporting participant follow-up activities across multiple research studies.
- Conducting research assessments and study procedures according to established protocols.
- Collecting and entering participant information, including anthropometry, body fat assessments, physical measures, ECGs, questionnaires, cognitive assessments, and other study-specific assessments.
- Maintaining accurate and complete study records and updating research databases, including REDCap, ROME, Excel, and other research data management platforms.

SFU鈥檚 Global HIV Interdisciplinary Research Lab (GHIRL) lab brings together researchers and trainees dedicated to global HIV and gender equity research using community-based approaches grounded in feminist and critical theoretical frameworks and methodologies. GHIRL lab provides a space for collaboration and a network of support among graduate students and staff engaged in community-based research projects at SFU. GHIRL lab is led by Dr. Angela Kaida and includes projects based in Canada and in South Africa exploring the gendered impacts of HIV.
GHIRL lab is seeking a Research Coordinator that will support the lab鈥檚 Canadian based research teams focusing on HIV, gender equity, and sexual and reproductive health, specifically supporting the BC CARMA CHIWOS Collaboration (BCC3), the Canadian Calls to Action to Advance the Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights of Women Living with HIV, and the Relationship Equity and Intersectional Measurement Among Gender Inclusive YouNg people in BC (REIMAGYN BC) study. All studies use a community-based research approach and the role would include working closely with community members, including people living with HIV and trans and gender diverse communities. The Research Coordinator will support data collection and quantative data analysis for baseline evaluation for the calls to action. With the BCC3 team, the coordinator will provide support to the Research Manager in implementing community engagement activities, including organizing an annual community advisory board meeting and supporting community research associates.
