The School of Communication is a vibrant hub for the study of media and politics as they relate to diverse cultures and societies while providing a comprehensive basis in communication theories and applications. Students in Communication gain a foundation in critical thinking, reading, analysis and production in the field of communication that allows them to study the histories, technologies, and ideologies of the media and communication infrastructures in our society to inform and shape media and politics. In the school's labs and research groups, faculty members work with students to study misinformation, journalism, cultural industries, and the history of technology. 

The School of Interactive Arts and Technology also offers innovative courses in new media that provide a grounding in emerging technologies and multimedia production. In the School for the Contemporary Arts, students in the Art, Performance & Cinema Studies Program focus on the historical, theoretical and critical study of the contemporary arts, with attention to critical contemporary issues.
