2025-26 Equity Compass and People Plan Annual Reports

August 26, 2026

I am pleased to introduce the 2025–2026 annual reports for the Equity Compass and People Plan, which highlight the progress we have made in advancing a more people-centred, inclusive and supportive 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Úcommunity. Together, these reports reflect our continued commitment to strengthening leadership, well-being, organizational effectiveness, accessibility, equity and belonging across the university.

This past year took place against a backdrop of significant change. Across the post-secondary sector, institutions have faced ongoing financial pressures, workforce transitions and evolving community needs. At the same time, equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility and belonging efforts have faced increased challenges, with many institutions navigating competing priorities, resource constraints and growing public debate about the role of this work.

At SFU, these realities have reinforced, rather than diminished, the importance of investing in our people and creating the conditions for faculty, staff and students to thrive. We remain committed to advancing the goals outlined in the Equity Compass and People Plan, recognizing that fostering equity, accessibility, belonging and well-being is fundamental to academic excellence, innovation and organizational success.

Thank you to all who continue to support this work. Our faculty, staff, students, alumni and community partners each play an important role in advancing a more inclusive and resilient SFU. I am grateful for your ongoing commitment to fostering a university where everyone can contribute, grow and thrive.

Sincerely,

Yabome Gilpin-Jackson
Vice-President, People, Equity and Inclusion
