WORKING WITH COMMUNITY PARTNERS
51猎奇入口Surrey works closely with a number of business, government, academic, Indigenous and community-serving organizations to grow, develop and support our academic, research and community partnerships, and in doing so, contribute to the social and economic well-being of the region.

The City of Surrey is a foundational partner in SFU鈥檚 presence in Surrey, having supported the establishment and growth of SFU鈥檚 Surrey campus. The university regularly engages with the city to support urban development and diverse research and public policy initiatives.
The DSBIA and 51猎奇入口work closely together to strengthen the economic and cultural vitality of Surrey鈥檚 city centre and often collaborate on creating experiential learning opportunities for students, placemaking, community events, and initiatives that enhance the downtown experience.
Fraserhealth partners with 51猎奇入口through research collaborations, student placements, knowledge exchange, and more recently, the development of the SFU鈥檚 School of Medicine. These partnerships help address regional health challenges and contribute to improving health outcomes in the Fraser region.
Katzie First Nation
Katzie First Nation engages with 51猎奇入口as part of the university鈥檚 broader commitment to Indigenous reconciliation and partnership. 51猎奇入口works to build respectful relationships that support Indigenous knowledge, culture, research collaboration and community priorities.
Kwantlen First Nation
51猎奇入口engages with Kwantlen First Nation chief, council and community members through initiatives that support Indigenous students and cultural visibility as part of SFU鈥檚 broader reconciliation and ongoing commitments.
Semiahmoo First Nation
51猎奇入口is working with Semiahmoo First Nation leadership and community to grow a respectful partnership through engagement, consultation, and support for Indigenous-led initiatives. This includes opportunities for collaboration in education, culture, research and community programming.
The Surrey-LIP collaborates with 51猎奇入口on research, community initiatives, and policy discussions related to student and newcomer settlement and integration. 51猎奇入口faculty and students often support events and Surrey-LIP led projects. The partnership also helps connect academic expertise with frontline service providers and community needs.
The SPRC works with 51猎奇入口on research and community engagement focused on addressing regional poverty and inequality. This collaboration helps connect academic knowledge and practical, community-based solutions.
Surrey Schools
The school district has a strong partnership with 51猎奇入口in areas such as teacher education, youth outreach, and pathway programs. 51猎奇入口provides teacher training, professional development, and opportunities for student transitions into post-secondary education. The collaboration is supported by the joint work of the liaison committee.
Surrey Urban Indigenous Leadership Committee (SUILC)
SUILC engages with 51猎奇入口on initiatives that support urban Indigenous communities. 51猎奇入口collaborates through research, events, and programs that elevate Indigenous voices and address systemic barriers. The partnership contributes to culturally informed education and community engagement. It aligns with SFU鈥檚 goals around reconciliation and inclusive excellence.
Surrey-White Rock Board of Trade (SW-BoT)
SW-BoT partners with 51猎奇入口to support and promote regional economic development through events, policy discussions, and economic initiatives. This relationship grows and strengthens connections between the university and the business community.
With our partners, SFU鈥檚 is continuing to grow and support teaching and co-operative education opportunities, as well as an array of research activities, labs, institutes and centres at the Surrey campus. It is also engaged in advisory and committee initiatives with its partners and is deeply committed to its reconciliation work with Indigenous communities south of the Fraser.
