Job Posting: Behaviour Interventionist (BI) – Burnaby, BC

Part-Time | $25–$30/hour | No Experience Required | Professional Training Provided

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated Behaviour Interventionist (BI) to work one-on-one with an 11-year-old autistic girl in Burnaby, BC.

We welcome students, recent graduates, and individuals who genuinely enjoy working with children and are eager to learn. Previous BI experience is not required.

Schedule and Compensation

• Minimum 2 sessions per week
• Minimum 2 hours per session (4 hours weekly)
• Flexible after-school schedule, starting at 2:00 p.m. or later
• Compensation: CAD $25–$30/hour, depending on experience
• Long-term commitment preferred

Professional Training and Supervision

A Behaviour Therapist/Specialist is already involved and will provide training, guidance, and instructions for all assigned activities and intervention goals.

The successful candidate will not be expected to develop intervention programs independently. The Behaviour Therapist will provide the necessary training and support for implementing each assignment.

Community Support Worker – Adult with Autism

Vancouver, BC | Weekends | 10-12 hours/week | Starting at $20/hour

We are a Vancouver family seeking a reliable and personable Community Support Worker to provide approximately 12 hours of support each weekend to a 33-year-old autistic adult. He is friendly, non-aggressive and largely independent in everyday living, but is not currently able to go out in the community independently.

The Role

This is a one-to-one community-based support role focused on social engagement, recreation, physical activity and developing greater independence in the community. We are looking for someone who can develop a genuine rapport with him while helping build his confidence and practical skills outside the home. Activities may include sightseeing and cultural activities, walking and other physical activities, using public transit, wayfinding and learning to navigate different community settings.

Who Would Be a Good Fit?

This position would be particularly suitable for a Psychology, Applied Behaviour Analysis, Education or related student interested in gaining practical one-to-one experience supporting an adult with autism. Previous professional experience with autism or support work is helpful but not essential. We place greater importance on maturity, reliability, patience, good judgment and the ability to develop a genuine rapport.The position is funded through Community Living BC (CLBC), and applicants must be able to pass the required criminal record check.

Position: Cantonese Speaking Behaviour Interventionist & Highschool tutor. Sessions will alternate each week between working with a pair of twin teen boys. Program areas currently include familiarizing them with conversational Cantonese, discussing and practising friendship and conversation skills, and supporting the boys with their Gr.11 homework.

Requirements: Looking for a Cantonese speaking BI for 1 x 2 hr session a week on Mondays at 3:30PM.

Session times: Fridays and Saturdays. Must also be available for team meetings every 6 weeks usually on Mondays from 10-12.

Looking for a patient and dedicated BI to support a chatty and fun 13 year old girl.
The BI would be supporting the student with academics, social and emotional skills, life skills, communication skills, self-advocacy and self-care. Experience or educational background in psychology or education is an asset but not mandatory. Looking for someone who is a quick learner and able to multitask as the students program is quite comprehensive (currently being homeschooled). All training and ongoing supervision will be provided. 

This position may be especially beneficial for students studying psychology, education, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, or a related field. 

It offers hands-on experience supporting individuals, developing communication and behavioral skills, collaborating with families and professionals, and applying practical strategies that can inform future academic and career goals.
