We are looking for a reliable, patient, and trustworthy part-time Support Worker to support a young adult with autism with community outings and activities throughout the Greater Vancouver area.

This is a long-term part-time position and a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being active, exploring the community, and building a consistent and supportive relationship with a young adult with autism.

Job Details

The position will begin with an initial three-month probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Drive and accompany him on community outings to parks, shopping malls, museums, recreational activities, and other enjoyable places throughout Greater Vancouver.
• Help him explore the community and participate in activities he enjoys.
• Provide support in environments where he may experience sensory sensitivity or become overstimulated.
• Assist with the use of a bicycle chariot during outings when needed.
• Provide a calm, patient, and consistent presence.
• Support his safety and well-being throughout outings.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or similar needs is preferred.
• Reliable, patient, calm, and responsible.
• Comfortable supporting a non-verbal young adult.
• Valid driver’s licence and safe driving record.
• Must have access to a reliable vehicle.
• Able to commit to a consistent weekday schedule.
• Interested in developing a stable, long-term working relationship.

Position: Behaviour Interventionist (BI)

We are looking for someone to help support a young autistic student at their preschool. Goals will include communication, following routines, interacting with peers, and participation in class activities. The ideal candidate is confident interacting with children, has strong communication skills, and values collaboration across home and school teams.  

Location: Port Coquitlam - you will be providing support at the student’s preschool starting in September, although home sessions are encouraged in the month leading up to that.

Hours: Specific hours can be flexible but approximately 2-2.5 hours in the morning on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays (e.g., 9:00-11:30am, 9:30am-12:00pm).

Experience: Prior experience with young children, especially in a preschool/daycare setting, is definitely helpful but not necessary. All training will be provided.

Compensation: Starts at $22-$30/hour depending on education and experience.
