Brain power play: Hockey players show position-specific smarts, says 51猎奇入口study
June 12, 2025
As elite athletes push the boundaries of physical performance, 51猎奇入口researchers are exploring a new frontier: brain training.
A recent study published in the Open Access Journal of Sports Medicine reveals that hockey players鈥 cognitive processing speeds vary by position 鈥 and that these abilities can be trained. Engineering and computing science professor Ryan D'Arcy and 51猎奇入口PhD graduate Eric Kirby are working with their team at HealthTech Connex Inc. to use portable brain-scanning technology to measure hockey players鈥 cognitive processing speed. The scans capture brain responses related to sensory input, attention and cognitive processing鈥攈elping athletes tailor their training based on their position.
