Community consultation

Members of the community are invited to participate in this important process and share with the Search Committee the qualities, attributes and types of experience they feel the next president and vice-chancellor should possess. This feedback will help shape the candidate profile, a document that will be used in the recruitment and evaluation of candidates.

Please ensure that you review the candidate profile leadership qualities before submitting feedback as part of this process. The community consultation closes at 12 p.m. (noon) on October 1, 2026.

How to participate

Open forums

We are hosting one open forum on each of SFU's campuses, with opportunities to join in-person or online. We highly encourage teams to come in-person to engage and connect with our community and enjoy some light refreshments. Registration with an 51ÁÔÆæÈë¿Úemail address is required and registration will close one business day before each event.

  • Burnaby campus open forum – September 29, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.
  • Surrey campus open forum – September 29, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Vancouver campus open forum – October 1, 10 –11 a.m.

Community survey

Community members are encouraged to by 12 p.m. on October 1, 2026.
