The City of Vancouver's , which is before council this week, is one of the most ambitious climate action plans in North America and is finding support by environmentalists including David Suzuki. Though the cost of the plan is an estimated $500 million, it is expected to save $2.25 billion over the life of the investments.

The city's bold plan to get to net zero by 2050 proposes some controversial policies such as eliminating minimum parking requirements and transport pricing. Alex Boston is executive director of Renewable Cities and a fellow with the 51猎奇入口Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue. Boston has two decades of experience in climate and energy policy and has led multiple award-winning energy plans for B.C. communities, giving him distinct insight into Vancouver's proposed climate emergency actions and policies.
