Implementation Science Training Initiative

The Implementation Science Training Initiative is a training and mentorship program for early- to mid-career health researchers (from wide range of health-related topics and disciplines) to enhance their implementation science (IS) knowledge, skills, and networks, building implementation science capacity in British Columbia.

Intake for the next cohort will begin in fall of 2026. More information coming soon!

The ISTI aims to build capacity in implementation science in British Columbia by increasing grant funding for projects by BC-based researchers and growing the province鈥檚 network of implementation scientists. The initiative is adapted from a proven program into a made-for-BC program.

The ISTI was founded in collaboration with Gen Creighton, Alia Januwalla, and Ugen Lhazin, formally of the UBC Knowledge Exchange unit.

Format

One-year program (and optional but encouraged 2nd 'alumni' year) with:

Yearly 3-day in-person intensives led by ISTI faculty
Quarterly webinar sessions
Monthly meetings with expert mentors
A research stipend to cover research-related expenses

What is implementation science?

Implementation science is the study of methods and strategies that facilitate the uptake, integration, and sustainability of evidence-based practices, programs, and policies in real-world settings.
