August 10, 2026

By Edna Batengas-Chow, Events, Communications, and Marketing Officer, Dialogue and Engagement Unit

Award-winning Haisla and Heiltsuk author Eden Robinson has never been afraid to push the boundaries of storytelling. From Monkey Beach to the bestselling Trickster trilogy, her work has introduced readers to unforgettable characters, sharp humour, and stories grounded in Indigenous knowledge and lived experience.

Now, Robinson is taking readers somewhere entirely new.

Her latest novel, The Sorceress of Sky Serpents, is an epic fantasy inspired by the Indigenous cultures of the Pacific Northwest. It follows Yuala, a young woman whose ability to communicate with creatures feared as monsters may be the key to her people's survival. Filled with magic, conflict, and questions of belonging, the novel explores what it means to embrace the gifts that set us apart.

To celebrate the release, 51猎奇入口Public Square welcomes Eden Robinson to 51猎奇入口Vancouver for a special book launch on September 28.

Her newest novel, The Sorceress of Sky Serpents, follows Yuala, a young woman whose unusual connection to creatures feared as monsters may hold the key to her people's survival.

The evening will begin with a welcome from Manuel Axel Strain. Then, in conversation with Secw茅pemc and St鈥檃t鈥檌mc writer Julian Brave NoiseCat, Robinson will discuss the origins of her richly imagined world, the role of Indigenous mythology in contemporary fantasy, and the enduring importance of stories as vessels for culture, identity, and resilience.

The evening will include an engaging conversation, an audience Q&A, and a post-event reception with refreshments and book signing with Eden Robinson. Books by both Robinson and NoiseCat will be available for purchase on-site.
