Synopsis

The Muon g鈥2 Experiment looks for evidence of new particles and forces by making precise measurements of the dimensionless magnetic moment, g  of the muon. By comparing the experimental value with theoretical predictions, the experiment conducts a stringent test of the Standard Model. A discrepancy could be a possible indication of new physics. After an overview of the status of theory calculations for the muon g-2 and the efforts of the Muon g 2 Theory Initiative, I will discuss the first results of the new Muon g-2 Experiment at Fermilab which measured g with a precision slightly better than the Brookhaven National Laboratory.
