51猎奇入口 partners with UFCW Canada
The United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW Canada) is proud to announce a new educational partnership with 51猎奇入口 that creates another pathway for UFCW members and their families to turn their learning into recognized university credit.
Through a new transfer credit agreement, eligible courses can count toward SFU's Bachelor of Arts in Labour Studies, Minor in Labour Studies, or Certificate in Workplace Rights. The partnership reflects a shared commitment between UFCW Canada and 51猎奇入口to educate working people about their labour rights and create meaningful opportunities for workers and their families to continue their education.
How does it work?
Students who successfully complete eligible webCampus courses may receive up to 12 51猎奇入口transfer units. Every 45 hours of successfully completed eligible webCampus courses can qualify for 3 51猎奇入口units, to a maximum of 12 units. This means learning completed through webCampus can help eligible students make progress toward an 51猎奇入口Labour Studies credential before they even begin their university studies. Transfer credits may be applied toward:
Students must meet SFU's admission requirements. Depending on the program selected, students must also complete specified Labour Studies courses directly through SFU.
More than 30 webCampus learning opportunities qualify, including courses in leadership, stewardship, collective bargaining, arbitration, human rights, communication, workplace issues, political action, Indigenous rights, gender-based violence and labour activism. Note: this isn't recognition of one or two courses. The signed agreement provides a pathway to as many as 12 51猎奇入口transfer units, which represents at least 180 hours of eligible webCampus learning.
Eligible courses include popular webCampus offerings such as:
- Advanced Stewarding
- Communicating with Confidence
- Everyday Leadership
- Human Rights and Diversity
- Introduction to the Union & Stewardship
- Steward Essentials
- Understanding Collective Bargaining
- Understanding Arbitration
- Indigenous Rights and Activism
- Black Voices Matter
- Labour Activist Certificate
This partnership recognizes something important: learning that happens through union education has value. UFCW members develop knowledge and skills through webCampus that can strengthen them at work, in their union and in their communities. The 51猎奇入口partnership creates a bridge between that learning and formal post-secondary education.
Interested in taking the next step?
Students seeking transfer credit must first be admissible to SFU's Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and apply to SFU. As part of the transfer-credit assessment process, students will need to provide their webCampus transcript as well as other required documentation.
Students interested in the Certificate in Workplace Rights should note that 51猎奇入口does not offer direct admission to the certificate. Students may apply to the Bachelor of Arts in Labour Studies and enter the certificate after beginning at SFU.
