FHS Graduate Student Speed Mentoring

The Faculty of Health Sciences and FHS Graduate Caucus is hosting its second FHS Graduate Student Speed Mentoring event on Thursday, Sept 24, 2026, from 9:30am-12:30pm. Join us to speak with 4 FHS faculty members speed mentoring Q&A sessions with general discussions on soft skills, career trajectories, and research expertise, and more.

Students will be in multiple small groups to speak to faculty mentors, rotating to other faculty over the course of the event.
Sessions are meant to be for general discussions about soft skills, career trajectories, research expertise, and/or whatever you would like to ask of our Faculty.

Conversation prompts/questions will be provided to both students and faculty mentors beforehand to initiate conversations.

Mentoring session will be ~35 minutes long, with a 2 minute rotation transition period. Pastries and coffee provided during rotation transition period.

There will also be a 35 minute lunch & open networking portion after the last session.

FACULTY MENTORS:

  1. Will Hsiao (Associate Professor, MSHRBC Scholar)
    Areas of interest: Bioinformatics, health informatics and public health infectious disease genomics.

  4. Kyle Burrows (Assistant Professor, Canada Research Chair Tier II in Barrier Tissue Immunity and Chronic Inflammatory Disease)
    Areas of interest: Mucosal Immunology, Innate lymphoid cells, T cells, Macrophages, Eosinophils, Microbiome, Parasite Immunology, Allergy and Inflammatory disease
