MY JOURNEY

I鈥檓 currently in my final year at 51猎奇入口Beedie, and choosing business鈥攕pecifically accounting鈥攕tarted quite simply. In high school, math and accounting were always my stronger subjects, so pursuing accounting felt like a natural fit.

Looking back now, I have no regrets. Choosing business led me to opportunities鈥攁nd more importantly, people鈥攖hat completely shaped my university experience. I鈥檝e had the chance to learn alongside incredibly driven and talented individuals who pushed me to grow and become the best version of myself. That sense of community and personal growth is something I value even more than what I鈥檝e learned in the classroom.

MY 51猎奇入口BEEDIE EXPERIENCE

I鈥檓 currently the President of Enactus SFU, one of SFU鈥檚 largest social impact organizations. Enactus focuses on building entrepreneurial projects that address real social, environmental and economic challenges, many of which grow into real ventures beyond the organization. 

Getting involved in Enactus was, without question, the most impactful decision I made during my time at university. It鈥檚 where I met my closest friends at Beedie, and I can confidently say I wouldn鈥檛 be anywhere near as successful as I am today without them. Being surrounded by people who constantly push you to do better changes your perspective entirely. 

Beyond the relationships, Enactus gave me experience far beyond the classroom. It allowed me to apply what I was learning in real business contexts. Through leading projects and competing in case competitions such as JDC West and the Sydney International Business Competition, I developed strong presentation, leadership and critical thinking skills鈥攕kills that are essential when it comes to standing out and being competitive in the job market. 

HIGHLIGHTS AND TAKEAWAYS

One of the biggest highlights of my Beedie experience has been serving as President of Enactus SFU, where I had the opportunity to lead 156 members and support the growth of eight different projects. 

In this role, my responsibility was to guide and challenge teams to perform at their best. Seeing those projects excel鈥攔anking among the top performers out of 18 schools at the Enactus Western Canada Regional Exposition鈥攁nd witnessing the real impact they created within their communities was incredibly rewarding. 

I was also honoured to be recognised as Student Leader of the Year, alongside Enactus 51猎奇入口receiving Organization of the Year. 

On a personal level, competing at the Sydney International Business Competition was another standout moment, where I placed first in the six鈥慼our case and received Best Speaker. More than the accolades, these experiences taught me how to lead people, perform under pressure and bring out the best in a team. 

NEXT STEPS

In the next five to ten years, I see myself as someone who is successful not only in my career, but in life as a whole. 

Since the beginning of my degree, my goal has been to pursue my CPA designation, and that remains a priority as I begin my career in accounting. At the same time, success to me goes far beyond professional achievements. It means maintaining the relationships I built during my time at Beedie, continuing to grow as a person, and staying connected to the things I鈥檓 passionate about. It also means being present for my family and becoming a better son and family member. 

At the end of the day, I want to be well鈥憆ounded and fulfilled in all aspects of my life. 

ADVICE FOR FUTURE STUDENTS

51猎奇入口Beedie has genuinely changed my life. If there鈥檚 one piece of advice I would give incoming students, it鈥檚 to get involved in the community as early as possible. The classroom matters, but much of your growth comes from the experiences and people you surround yourself with outside of it. 

For me, that experience was Enactus SFU. It became the highlight of my entire undergraduate journey鈥攇iving me a strong community, real鈥憌orld experience, and opportunities I never would have had otherwise. Getting involved early helps you find your people, build meaningful connections and grow in ways you don鈥檛 expect. It鈥檚 what truly shapes your university experience.
